## What is MCP?

[Model Context Protocol (MCP)](https://modelcontextprotocol.io) is an open protocol that enables AI applications to connect to external tools and data sources. It provides a standardized way for AI assistants like Claude Desktop and Cursor to interact with local services and APIs while keeping you in control.
